FUEL-SAVING FEATURES FROM BMW

With fuel prices projected to remain high through Memorial Day, everyone has become more attuned to their vehicle’s fuel economy. BMW has engineered the models in its lineup to offer outstanding fuel-saving features. From hybrid powertrains to aerodynamic designs, BMW keeps the environment—and your wallet—in mind.

Variable Valve Timing

BMW’s variable valve timing technology, VANOS, is used in many engine options to increase performance as well as fuel economy and efficiency. It works by altering the timing of the valves by shifting the phase angle of the camshaft. If that sounds like a bunch of jargon you don’t really care about, just know that VANOS equals better efficiency. This technology is used throughout the BMW lineup on most models.

Turbo Powertrains

Much like how variable valve timing can improve efficiency, so can turbochargers. The application of turbochargers may have started with the desire for faster vehicles, but it has an extra benefit. By using a turbocharger, BMW can use a smaller engine with less horsepower without creating a vehicle that feels sluggish. Small turbos provide the power you need to merge onto highways or pass another car but don’t drink up fuel when you’re driving normally. A great example is the 4 Series Gran Coupe equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. With 255 horsepower, you might expect this car to be expensive at the pump but the premium sedan still achieves 34 mpg on the highway.*

Hybrid & Electric Performance

For years BMW has offered hybrid variants for many of its models. This year, BMW has focused heavily on releasing remarkable fully-electric models like the new iX, i4, and i7. Each one offers similar features and speaks to similar drivers as some of the brand's most popular models. It doesn't get much more fuel-efficient than that!

We can help you configure a vehicle that meets your efficiency needs and your lifestyle. With BMW’s innovative technology, their line-up has so much to offer.
