2025 BMW 7 SERIES

Overview

It’s no surprise that the makers of the Ultimate Driving Machine also make what could arguably be called the ultimate luxury performance sedan. As the marque’s flagship model, the 2025 BMW 7 Series pulls out all the stops. Whether it’s incredible attention to the finest of details, seamless and ample power, and all the luxury and tech goodies one could ask for, the 7 Series gives you that and more.

What's New for 2025?

The changes for the 7 Series are slight but impactful. The biggest change is that the 2025 7 Series gets an updated version of BMW's Drive operating system, streamlining voice interaction for things like Siri voice assistant. The available hands-free driving mode can now suggest a lane change, and you can agree to the maneuver by looking in the side view mirror for the direction of the suggested lane change.

Who’s It For?

Captains of industry and those who just enjoy the finer things in life. The 2025 BMW 7 Series certainly caters to those who want the ultimate in comfort and luxury. Options like the Luxury Rear Seating Package and Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package let you treat your rear passengers like heads of state. The available illuminated kidney grille is just the icing on the cake.

Real World Performance

At its core, the 2025 BMW 7 Series is just as much of an Ultimate Driving Machine as its smaller and sportier siblings. A well-calibrated suspension with rear steering capability and adaptive dampers allows the 7 Series to bite into corners and dominate curvy roads as if it were a smaller car. On the power front, the 7 Series offers a trio of compelling powertrain options, starting with the standard 3.0-liter TwinPower inline 6-cylinder engine found in the 740i and 740i xDrive. With 375 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque on tap, it moves the 7 Series with an urgency few vehicles can match. Power-hungry fans of the 7 Series can opt for the 760i xDrive and its 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. Expect a healthy 536 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, along with an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined (18 mpg city/25 mpg highway). Both engines get a boost from a 48-volt hybrid system, adding additional power without the fuel economy penalties that usually come with high performance.

And then there’s the 750e xDrive. It’s the 7 Series model to choose if plug-in efficiency is your driving goal. The 750e xDrive uses the same standard 3.0-liter TwinPower inline 6-cylinder as the 740i, but this time optimized for plug-in hybrid duty. The result is 483 horsepower, 479 pound-feet of torque, and the ability to drive up to 36 miles on electric power alone. The included Flexible Fast Charger lets you charge anywhere there’s a 120-volt outlet, but you can also access public Level 2 chargers and even opt for at-home Level 2 charging with the 7.4 kilowatt-hour BMW Wallbox. All 7 Series sedans share the same 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport and Manual modes.
